'But I have heard you sing. I've felt the vibratos and crescendos of your soul in every part of mine. You are no more a monster than I. You are a song. One composed of a thousand different instruments all perfectly harmonizing into the melody they were crafted to create. A masterpiece."

Isda was born with the ability to control memories when people sing. For this she was supposed to have been murdered as a baby, however she was saved by Cyril and now lives as the phantom of the opera house. Spending her life surrounded by music she is content until she encounters Emeric who stirs up feelings and desires unlike anything she had ever felt.

I adored this book, to the point that I couldn't put it down. It's a charming and magical twist on an old classic. This re-imagining hits all of the beats of the original but is a unique story onto itself.

Isda is a complicated character to say the least. Her entire world has been ristricted to the opera house because of how she was born. That being said some of her actions can't be called good. She makes for a fascinating protagonist that you can't help but hope for the best, but fear that she might fall into darkness.

Emeric makes for an excellent foil to Isda. He's far more experienced when it comes to life outside of the Opera he is still very innocent and sweet compared to Isda and her fight for survival.

I highly recommend this book it is an excellent read.
