Anne Gallagher has been in love with Ireland since she was a child. The love was grown at the knee of her grandfather Eoin. When she finally gets a chance to visit it is after his death to bring him home. That's when Ireland calls her to a different time, 1912 to be exact. To a time of war and uncertainty in Ireland, but also a time of love.

This book is so beautifully written the prose is gorgeous, and it transitions between sections of the journal of Dr. Thomas Smith and Anne's story. It includes excepts of Yates.
I adored this book, being of Irish heritage myself it made me really curious to learn more about this time period in history. To learn more about what happened and who the historical people were and their stories. It's a period of history, in a place that isn't as widely known as it deserves to be.
Please read this book you will definitely enjoy it and learn something along the way.
