Fall Wrap Up 2022

This fall I've kept up my average and again read a little over 40 books. This includes a new favorite series, a manga series and a light novel series. Lets talk about my favorite and least favorite/most disappointing of the season. Then how I've done on my goals for this summer.

Favorite Books/ Series:

The Cartographers

This is thriller/ mystery that follows a woman whose entire life has been shaped by maps. One particular map caused a lot of issues when it was found during the "Junk Box" incident. Now after the death of her father she finally starts to unravel what exactly that map had to do with it.

Wayward Children Series by Seanan McGuire

A series about children who have gone through doorways into other worlds and what happens when they come back. Every book in this series is a win. I love the characters and I love that the series switches back and forth between prologues and adding in new characters to following ones that we already know and love.

The next book comes out early next year and I will defiantly be making a point to pick it up.

Ascendance of a Bookworm by Miya Kazuki

This series focuses on a girl who is so obsessed with books that in her first life she died by being crushed by books. Now she is reincarnated as a young girl who is very sickly and has no access to books. So what is Myne to do? Make her own of course!

I absolutely love this series. It is extremely cute and as someone who's watched the anime the light novels add a ton of context and backstory. I've currently only read through parts 1 and 2 (7 light novels) and I'm going to work on catching up to where it is released in English as soon as I can.

Most Disappointing Book

The Auschwitz Twins by Roberta Kagen

This one was disappointing to me because I had such high hopes. It just wasn't in a format that I enjoyed and I hated how little page time the titular characters got.

Fall Goals:

• Read all of the Otherworld Series- Still no progress on this goal and I think at this point I'm probably going to call it.

• Start Reading Case Closed/ Detective Conan- I have started this, I've only read two volumes, but I still started!

Goals for Winter

• Make Progress in Case Closed

• Finish or Catch up to five series. I have a bad tendency to start series and not finish them so I'm hoping this winter I can finish at least five series.

• Read more Ascendance of a Bookworm. All of part 3 is translated and released so I want to get all of part 3 read and possibly start on part four.
