My life got a bit hectic during the last several months of 2023 so this fell a bit by the wayside however I did get a lot of reading done. Including some books that I really enjoyed. So lets get into it.
Hits:
I've read a lot of books that I've really enjoyed over the last few months but I will only highlight my three favorites here.

Kaikeyi by Vashnavi Patel
This is a retelling of the Indian epic the Ramayana. It is told from the perspective of the "evil step mother". I really loved her magic and I loved learning more about an epic that I'd never been exposed to.
Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

This is a mystery thriller that will keep you guessing. Daunis is an incredible protagonist fighting through adversity, feeling torn between two worlds and managing to figure out what is going on in her community before its torn apart.
I loved this. It gave me the young intrepid wannabe detective vibes but done so very intelligently and with real stakes and consequences.

Take My Hand by Dolene Perkins-Valdez
This is a historical fiction set in the 1970's about a young nurse and the part she played in the forced sterilizations of marginalized girls. It is a heart breaking story but an important one that I think everyone should read.
Misses:
Luckily I didn't have very many misses but the one I did only got finished because it was a book club pick.

Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
I couldn't stand the main character. She was an absolute moron who kept going into dangerous situations and lucking her way out of them. She faced no consequences for her dumbass behavior and I just can't. I won't be continuing on in the series.
