Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of the Beauty and the Beast by Robin McKinley

You know the story, Disney did a lovely rendition but what does this particular one bring to the table?

Honestly? Not a ton. If, like myself, you are familiar with the original fairy tale this one doesn't really stray off the beaten path. It does give more depth to Beauty's family dynamics, which honestly feels like padding out the story rather than useful information.

It is a sweet simple book, but it's nothing to rave over.
