On an island unnamed and widely unknown things... disappear. Simple ordinary things, roses, birds, candy. All gone and all but a few people on the island are no the wiser. The ones who remember are in danger, hunted by the Memory Police.

This book follows a novelist who's mother remembered everything that disappeared, and tried to make sure she could as well. But when her mother was taken any traces of those memories left with her. Now an adult our narrator has made a friend in R. he is her editor and he remembers everything now he's in danger.

Along with the main story there is a second narrative. It's the our narrators latest novel about a typist, the two stories definitely have parallels and I enjoyed both of them.

I think I liked this book, I still haven't fully decided even after finishing it a few days ago. I enjoyed the main characters, the premise was really good, and the dual narrative was solid. That being said, I don't know the ending has me a little... meh.
