Avoiding talking about things is much more dangerous than having conversations.
Music was one of the most important things in Braden Healy's life until it was taken away suddenly in a cruel twist of fate. Leading him down a dark alcohol filled path. Now when tragedy strikes again and takes his ex-wife and son. Braden must face his past and the mysterious "curse" that Phee insists is real, in order take care of his daughter Allie.

While magic is a side note music is front and center. It is what ties all of our main characters together bound by one beautiful, cursed, cello. It's what tore Braden's family apart the first time but is just what's needed to bring it back together.
Cursed musical instruments where if they aren't played something terrible happens. You know when a story has something like that it's going to be good. While it acts more as a jumping off point to get our main characters interacting, the thread is kept throughout the story.
Mostly this is a story of second chances, forgiveness and coming to terms with the past. It is beautiful and has a thread of magic woven throughout it. I highly recommend it.
