The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand

What if Ebeneezer Scrooge wasn't the only person who was visited by three spirits of Christmas? What if a sixteen year old girl was visited and didn't listen? Well that's the story of Holly Chase... partially now she's dead and she's the Spirit of Christmas Past.

Now I love a Christmas Carol, I usually watch 3-4 versions of it every year. This book brings the spirit of the story to life in a brand new way. Instead of focusing on Holly's night with the spirit we see her dive into the life of the newest Scrooge. Someone she can finally empathize with. And maybe learn the lessons from his life that she refused to learn from her own.

Holly really grows throughout the story. She starts as a bratty little scrooge and slowly realizes how she treated people and why she was chosen as a scrooge. She changes so much because she can se herself mirrored in the current scrooge

This is a great book to read around Christmas to kind of get into the spirit of things.
