Children have always disappeared into doorways but what happens when they come back when they really didn't want to. That's when they come to Eleanor West's Home for Wayward Children. Where if they can't go home they can at least be around others who understand.

Every Heart a Doorway was our September book club pick, and I think it was my favorite one so far.
This is the first book in the Wayward Children series and it is a stunning way to start a series. It sets up with the idea of a place where a multitude of worlds are connected together, while still being a complete standalone story in its own right.
The story starts off with us getting to know the school and more about the types of worlds that exist. Unfortunately there is also a murderer on the loose and the students have to figure out who or what is killing them, and why.
I absolutely loved all the characters we met, how each of them had worlds that were perfectly suited to them but due to a variety of circumstances were forced out. Now they are trying to find their way back, or learn to live in this unfamiliar world again.
In this book we also get some trans representation with one of the main characters. I thought it was done really well and I hope we get to learn more about him in future books.
This series currently has eight books with at least two more planned and I can't wait to read all of them.
I haven't heard of this series. It sounds interesting. I'll have to go check it out. I sort of get Miss Peregrine vibes from the description.
