This is the second book in the Cursebreakers series by Brigid Kemmer and I really enjoyed the first book in the series. My review to the first book will be linked below. This one however.... I have strong opinions.
In case it needs to be said this will have slight spoilers for book one of the Cursebreakers Series so read at your own discretion.

This book picks up a little while after the events of the first book. Grey is missing and we discover that he is hiding in small town under an assumed name. He's learned that he is the true heir to the throne and he isn't interested.
Newly introduced in this book is Lia Mara. She is a princess of the rival kind om Syhl Swallow. Portrayed as a kind and compassionate person thee stark opposite of her mother and sister. I personally really liked her. She loves books and doesn't have the bloodthirsty nature that we previously associated with her county.
Another thing that I liked about the book was learning about Grey's magic. I love magic systems and previously in this series we just had one magic user and she was objectively awful. Now we have Grey redeeming magic and we have a cool magic creature to learn about the Scrarver Iisak.
Honestly for most of the book I was good. Yes we switched up protagonists now we are focusing on Grey and Lia Mara instead of Harper and Prince Rhen. I was even okay with the author making Rhen the antagonist of most of the book. However.... that ending? Those last two pages? Are you freaking kidding me? Why in the hell would that happen?
At this point I don't know if I'm going to bother with book number three. This made me so mad that I gave the book two stars. The fact that I like the writing style is the only reason it didn't get a one star.
