Rhea is the daughter of a miller and never expected a nobleman to take notice of her. So when Lord Craven decides she is to be his bride, she's more than a little surprised. Once she's summoned to his manor she realizes how over her head she really is, she is to be his seventh wife and the others aren't fully dead. She must find a way to beat his games and gain her freedom.

First and foremost the hedgehog is the best character hands down. I love animals that act more sentient than they should and this one is precious. He's so cute and helpful and I love him.

Anyway... this story told in a very fairytale like way. You've got your quest, you've got your animal sidekick, and you've got your bad guy, it's the perfect recipe for a good time. The writing style kept you in the fairytale mindset keeping you immersed in the story.

One of the best parts of the book was getting to know some of the wives. Figuring out what was taken from them and speculating what Lord Craven wanted from Rhea. I really liked how some of their secrets were reveled over the course of the book.

This was the first book by T. Kingfisher book that I had ever read and I liked it a lot. I'm definitely looking forward to checking out some of her other works.
