Nell Young's life has always been shaped by maps. They are her life and her passion and the thing that ties her the strongest to her parents and ripped her away from them as well. This story adds a little bit of extra magic to the beauty of maps.

I love alternating timelines and this is a wonderful example of it. Following Neil in the present as she learns the secrets her father so desperately tried to hide and following her parents in the past. You get a full and complete spellbinding story.

This is a little bit of a mix of thriller, mystery and fantasy. All of the elements were done really well. Although I did call who the main antagonist was going to be fairly early on I still enjoyed when it was revealed in the story.

The magic system was also a lot of fun and interesting to see. I'm curious if there are other places the magic would have been just as strong, if that's something the author will explore another time. I also loved the technology in the world.

A little more romance wouldn't have hurt, but this is a very short timeline for the present so the lack makes sense.

All in all its a great book that I highly recommend.
