This summer I've kept up my average and read a little over 40 books. Including two manga series, one that was brand new to me and one that I finally finished, and a couple of series. Lets talk about my favorite and least favorite/most disappointing of the season. Then how I've done on my goals for this summer.
Favorite Books/ Series:

Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.
This was the only novel that I rated 5 stars that I read this summer.
The characters, particularly Locke and Jean are really the highlight of book. They are cheeky and fun and you can't help but to root for them.

Spy X Family by Tatsuya Endo
This manga series is absolutely adorable it is fluff and sweetness incarnate. All of the characters are entertaining and well developed. I can't wait for more chapters to be out so I can continue to enjoy it.

Other Birds by Sarah Addison Allen
This is one of my favorite authors and it is her newest book. It released on August 30th and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC. It's a delightful magical realism book that has strong found family themes.
Least Favorite/ Most Disappointing Books
Lost Stars by Jasmine Jenkins and Sophie Suliman
The voice in this one I really didn't jive with especially when there were explicit themes and the voice felt young.
A Heart so Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer
I actually enjoyed this book for the most part but the ending ticked me off. It turned a three star book into a two star.
Summer Goals:
Read Spy X Family: Success! I am all caught up and I absolutley love this series. The anime is also really good.
Read a classic a month: I failed at this. I only read one classic this summer and it was Peter Pan. Granted I really enjoyed Peter Pan and I'm glad I read it but I still am two classics short.
Read all of the Otherworld Series- Still no progress on this goal but I could still potentially finish it by December. If I don't get distracted by all the other pretty books.
Goals for Winter
Start reading Case Closed/ Detective Conan. This is one of the quintessential manga series. It started in 1994 and is still ongoing today. For someone who has always refused to start One Piece because of how long it is, jokes on me this is just as long.
