Before Antsy came to Elinore West's Home for Wayward Children she had to run away and learn that sometimes when something is lost it can't be found.

This is the newest entry to the Wayward Children series and it is a doozy. Starting with a beautiful authors note that lets you know that there are some darker themes ahead.
We originally met Antsy in the previous entry of the series Where the Drowned Girls Go, now getting her story. She flees an unsafe home and finds herself in the place where lost things go. Here she can open doors into incredible worlds, however there is a price one that she doesn't find out about
One of the biggest themes in this volume is consent, namely lack of consent. A lot of Antsy's choices get taken away from her and she has to grapple with the idea of taking control.
I really liked her as a protagonist and thought she was fascinating. I also really like her ability that she gets when she returns to our world and I can't wait to see what else it will be used for.
This series continues to be excellently written and I highly look forward to the next entry in the series. All of them are excellent and definitely worth a read. This particular entry can be read as a standalone but there are a couple of nods to and cameo's from characters who were in previous books.
