Keeper of Enchanted Rooms by Charlie N. Holmberg

Merritt Fernsby is surprised when he inherits a remote estate in the Narragansett Bay due to his estrangement from his family. It seems like the perfect place for a fresh start, except now the house won't let him leave. Hulda Larkin was sent on behalf of the Boston Institute for the Keeping of Enchanted Rooms to check out this enchanted house. Little does she know what all awaits her.

The magic system is beautifully interwoven making things feel perfectly enchanted. The way that magic made the world slightly more advanced instead of technology.

I really enjoyed the layers of backstory this has. Especially seeing the decent of our antagonist. Seeing how he justifies everything that he's done to himself. It's done masterfully and I really enjoyed it.

Every one of the main characters is rounded out and I really enjoyed how everyone tied in together.

The romance is also really sweet and such a slow burn. I'm looking forward to the sequel to learn more about the magic system and about the world.
