Childhood bulling is something that most of us are familiar with. Having seen it or experienced it while we were younger. This series follows a young man who went from bully to bullied and the girl who changed everything.

I am going to review this series as a whole instead of breaking it down book by book, as I believe it should be read and experienced all together.
The story starts when Shoya a young mischievous boy begins tormenting the new deaf girl in his class Shoko. He makes her life miserable, hiding her shoes, damaging her hearing aids and writing nasty messages on her desk. Now Shoya isn't alone in his bullying of Shoko many of his classmates join in, but when it get serious, when Shoko gets pulled out of their school all of the blame falls squarely on Shoya.
Now he did deserve to be knocked down a peg, but he was completely thrown to the wolves. He lost all of his friends, the bullying was now focused on him and his life became absolutely miserable to the point he was contemplating killing himself. This is when Shoko enters his life again. They slowly become friends, trying to overcome their shared history and set things right.
The Review:
As someone who was bullied when I was younger this story really resonated with me. Shoko's not understanding why, just wanting to belong, to be part of the group, to not be made to feel like your unworthy. I understood and felt it right along with her. Seeing Shoya grow up in to a respectable, kind person gives me hope for anyone who bullies. They can grow out of it, they can become better people.
This series is expertly written and definately deserves to be read by people of all ages.
